About
A scholar-teacher building thoughtful AI in education.
I study how teachers, students and intelligent systems can work together on problems that matter — learning, teacher education, and public policy.
I am Dr. Vimal Singh, Assistant Professor in the School of Teacher Education, Department of Education at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.
My work asks a straightforward question: as classrooms and universities adopt artificial intelligence, what does it take to make those systems genuinely serve teachers, students and the public interest? Answering it well requires drawing from educational research, teacher education, policy analysis and technology studies — and being unusually careful about what we measure.
I completed my Ph.D. at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, University of Lucknow (2021), where I compared the personality traits and value systems of students in institutions inspired by Aurobindo, Vivekananda, Krishnamurti and Tagore. Before joining CSJMU in April 2022, I served as an Assistant Professor at Balram Krishan Academy (University of Lucknow) and as a UGC Junior/Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Education, University of Lucknow.
My present research programme combines bibliometric and systematic-review studies of AI in education — ChatGPT-assisted learning, cognitive load, chatbot tutors, neuroeducation — with mixed-methods fieldwork on NEP 2020, CBCS implementation, digital resource satisfaction, and teacher awareness of national policies. My articles appear in Scopus-indexed venues including Annals of Neurosciences, Library Progress International, Scientific Culture, and International Journal of Biological Macromolecules (Elsevier).
Alongside teaching, I serve as Deputy Director (Technical) of CSJMU's Dronacharya Centre for Online and Distance Education (D-CODE), and previously as Assistant Dean of the Research & Development Cell. I coordinate the university's Pre-Ph.D. Course Work, run capacity-building workshops on research methodology and AI tools, and edit NOUS, a half-yearly journal of education, arts, humanities and social sciences.
I have qualified UGC-NET (JRF) in Education three times, UGC-NET in Public Administration, and both CTET and UPTET. I welcome inquiries from prospective research scholars, collaborators, and colleagues in teacher-education institutions across India and abroad.
